The Board Members of the Riverside International Film Festival would like to bestow on Helen Reddy this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award in Music. Helen, also known as The Queen of 1970’s Pop and The Singing Nun, reached the top of the American charts with her first #1 Grammy Award winning "I Am Woman" It became THE anthem of the feminist movement during the radical 1970s, and was her signature song. Four decades later this is still the hit people remember her for, despite the fact she had an abundance of other "top ten" records over the course of her long career, including 3 No. 1 Hits: Delta Dawn, Angie Baby and the fore mentioned I Am Woman. Her film career included a starring role in Pete’s Dragon (Walt Disney Productions) which included the Oscar nominated song “Candle on the Water”. She also played a nun in “Airport 1975” where she sang “Best Friend” and was nominated for a Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer-Female. She was also featured in the films “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”, “Disorderlies”, and “The Perfect Host”. Her latest film performance comes in this year’s release of “Senior Entourage” which celebrates its World Premiere at the Riverside International Film Festival.
