The Board Members of the Riverside International Film Festival wish to bestow upon Nick Searcy the Auteur Award for Film and TV for his incredible span of work over the past almost 3 decades at this year’s Gala on April 21, 2018 in Riverside, CA. Having followed his career after his breakout performances in the film Fugitive and the TV miniseries From the Earth to the Moon, the board has been incredibly impressed with Nick’s continued increasing stature leading up to this year’s performances in two Oscar Nominated films, including the Academy Winner for Best Picture The Shape of Water.
A consistent presence in film and television for over 25 years, Nick Searcy has starred in independent films as well as studio blockbusters, including MONEYBALL, THE LAST SONG, THE UGLY TRUTH, THE DEAD GIRL, RUNAWAY JURY, CAST AWAY, HEAD OF STATE, and FRIED GREEN TOMATOES, among others. In 2018, he appeared in two Academy Award Best Picture nominees, 3 BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI, and the fore-mentioned Best Picture winner, THE SHAPE OF WATER. Previous Academy Best Picture Nominated films Nick appeared in include The Prince of Tides (1991), The Fugitive (1993), and Moneyball (2011).
After completing a six-year run as Chief Deputy Art Mullen on the popular FX series JUSTIFIED, he appeared as Deke Simmons in Hulu’s 11/22/63, and has also been a series regular on UPN’s 7 Days, CBS’s American Gothic, HBO’s From The Earth To The Moon, ABC’s Rodney, and CW’s Easy Money, and has guest starred on countless shows including Chicago Med, Hawaii 5-0, Mom, Hot in Cleveland, Intelligence, Archer, The Mentalist, Lie To Me, Without a Trace, The West Wing, CSI, and NCIS.
He returned to the stage, his first love, in 2016 as Raymond Chandler in BILLY & RAY at the Laguna Playhouse, and again in 2017 in the Geffen Playhouse production of THE LEGEND OF GEORGIA MCBRIDE.
GOSNELL, an independent film Nick directed will be released in theatres in 2018. His first film, PARADISE FALLS, won 6 festival awards including the Best Feature Film award at the 1997 Hollywood Film Festival, and he continues to write and develop new works for the screen.
